Food Technology is a branch of science that deals with the techniques involved in production, processing, preservation, quality management, packaging, labeling, capacity building and skill development in food processing and creation of value chain, entrepreneurship development and distribution of food products. The field also involve techniques and processes that are used to transform raw material into processed products, reduction in post-harvest losses etc. The College aims to develop Food Technologist who thrives in the field of post-harvest, food quality and safety. The vision of this college is to develop human resource with strong understanding of Food Processing & Technology including Food Microbiology with quality and safety aspects to ensure sustainable food security in the society. The mission of this college is to advance and spread understanding in the area of food science and technology and to become a preferred destination for undergraduate and graduate studies. Looking to the new era of food related activities in India and abroad, in Chhattisgarh also good employment opportunities are recognized in fields like: processing industries of cereals and grains, fruits and vegetable, spices and masala; bakery and confectionery industry; Food Packaging Industry; Meat, Poultry and Fish Processing Industry; Tea and Coffee Processing Industry; Oilseed Extraction and Refining Industry; Milk Based Processing Industry; Frozen Food and Cold Storage Industry; Sugarcane Industry; Industrial Warehouse; Food Process equipment Design and Operation; Food By-product Utilization Industry. The course curriculum is also designed to train young students to become good entrepreneur in areas of Bakery, Jam and Jelly, Pulp, Nectar, Beverages, Juices, Frozen and dehydrated Products, RTS (Ready to serve), Millet based products, Flour milling, Pasta and Noodles, Starch based packaging material, Tuber roots starch extraction. The aspiring students may also plan for higher studies.
